At US$2,000/mo, ClassQuill costs US$84/mo less than Skool Pro, the cheaper Skool plan for you.

Skool's percentage already covers card processing, and Skool members always pay by card. ClassQuill charges a 0% platform fee, but Stripe still charges for card payments, so with payments in ClassQuill on we add Stripe's fee on our side. Against Skool Pro, one tutor savesUS$79 a month on the subscription, plus 1.25% of revenue (Pro's 2.9% against Stripe's 1.65%), less Stripe's A$0.30 fixed fee on each card payment.

Card payments in ClassQuill are optional. Families can always pay invoices by PayID or bank transfer for free, and you mark them paid; that is what switching the toggle off shows. Skool prices as of October 2026 (skool.com/pricing).

Hobby or Pro: which Skool plan is cheaper?

Pro costs US$90 a month more than Hobby but takes 7.1 percentage points less of your revenue. The two meet at US$90 ÷ 7.1% ≈ US$1,268 a month. Below that, Hobby is cheaper; above it, Pro is. A community charging US$20 a month crosses the line at about 64 paying members.

How the calculator works

  • Skool Hobby: US$9 + 10% of monthly revenue.
  • Skool Pro: US$99 + 2.9% of monthly revenue.
  • ClassQuill: US$20 for the first tutor + US$6 for each additional tutor, a 0% platform fee, and Stripe's card processing on top (1.65% + A$0.30 per payment by default, the Australian domestic rate; change it to your own). Switch "Take payments in ClassQuill" off and families pay by bank transfer, so there are no card fees.

Skool prices are from skool.com/pricing, as of October 2026. Both Skool plans include unlimited members, courses and live calls. The optional US$0.30 per Skool transaction comes from third-party guides, not Skool's own site, so it is off unless you tick it. Tell us if Skool's pricing changes and we'll update it.

Skool pricing questions

How much does Skool cost per month?

As of October 2026, Skool has two plans: Hobby at US$9 a month and Pro at US$99 a month (skool.com/pricing). Both add a transaction fee on what your members pay you: 10% on Hobby and 2.9% on Pro.

Which Skool plan is cheaper, Hobby or Pro?

Hobby is cheaper until your community earns about US$1,268 a month. Above that, Pro's lower 2.9% fee more than covers its extra US$90 subscription, so Pro costs less.

Does Skool charge a fixed fee per transaction too?

Some third-party guides report an extra US$0.30 per transaction. Skool's own pricing page doesn't show it, so the calculator leaves it off unless you switch it on.

Is there a Skool alternative with no platform fee?

ClassQuill charges a 0% platform fee (Stripe fees apply). It costs US$20 a month for the first tutor and US$6 for each additional tutor. Skool's percentage includes card processing, so the calculator adds Stripe's fee on the ClassQuill side to keep the comparison fair. Card payments are optional in ClassQuill; families can always pay by bank transfer for free.

Teaching as well as running a community?

ClassQuill has a community feed and self-paced courses like Skool, plus a live whiteboard, 1:1 scheduling, invoicing and auto-marked homework.
