The 80% rule: Keep team utilisation at or below 80% so you have buffer for sick days, school holidays and new enrolments. Above 90% and one tutor dropping out stalls your whole operation.

Casual vs part-time: Most AU tutors work casually (15–20h/week). If you need the same tutor reliably week-on-week, a part-time employment contract gives you more scheduling control — but super and entitlements apply.
