Scheduling and the day-to-day
Both tools run a real multi-tutor operation. ClassQuill puts every tutor, room and class on one shared calendar, so recurring 1-on-1s and group classes are set up once and stay in sync, and your team moves or rebooks a session in a couple of clicks with everyone affected kept in the loop. TutorCruncher does the same job at agency-to-enterprise scale, and it goes one step further than we do today: it lets clients self-book from tutor availability. ClassQuill is staff-scheduled for now — your team owns the calendar, and client self-booking is on the roadmap rather than live. If self-service booking is the single feature you can't operate without, that's an honest point in TutorCruncher's favour.
Billing, invoicing and payroll
This is where the two are closest. In ClassQuill an invoice drafts itself the moment a session completes; you review and send, every invoice carries a Stripe payment link and syncs to Xero, and tutors are paid through Stripe Connect direct payouts calculated from the real sessions they ran — not a separate payroll run. TutorCruncher matches all of that and adds fully-automatic send and dunning, which for us is still review-then-send. What ClassQuill adds on top is the Australian plumbing: PayID, GST handling and Basiq bank reconciliation, built in rather than bolted on. Brandon built ClassQuill to bill his own tutoring company, EquateIt, on those exact rails — so the AU billing edge is the part that was pressure-tested first.
The learning platform TutorCruncher doesn't have
TutorCruncher is an operations platform — a very good one — and it stops at operations. It has no place for your tutors to actually teach. ClassQuill ships a curriculum-aligned, vetted question bank your tutors assign from (filterable by type, difficulty, unit and publisher), homework that's auto-marked with instant feedback where free-form written working is reviewed by the tutor, and a timed exam mode for mock SACs run under real conditions. That's not a quiz add-on — it's the room your tutors work in every session.
The classroom itself: video and a live whiteboard
TutorCruncher has its own video calling (TC Video) — genuinely built in, no complaint there. What it doesn't have is a whiteboard, so the actual teaching still needs a separate tool for most centres running online sessions. ClassQuill's live whiteboard sits in the same session as the video, with a maths-teacher stencil library included, so there's nothing extra to bolt on.
Proof that students are actually learning
The gap that matters most is evidence. TutorCruncher can tell you a session happened and was invoiced; it can't tell you whether the student improved. ClassQuill generates per-student topic mastery from real marked work, surfaces which students are slipping before they cancel, and gives you per-tutor quality analytics so you can see which tutors are actually getting results. Parent-ready progress reports build themselves from that same marked work — no extra tutor effort. Will, a VCE Maths tutor on the team, designed this around the reports he'd otherwise write by hand at 10pm.

Does ClassQuill do everything TutorCruncher does?
On operations — scheduling, automated invoicing, Stripe payments, Xero sync and tutor payroll — the two are at parity. TutorCruncher is ahead on two things: fully-automatic invoice send and dunning (ClassQuill drafts and you send, for now), and client self-booking (ClassQuill is staff-scheduled today). ClassQuill's addition is everything above operations: a built-in learning platform and progress evidence TutorCruncher doesn't have.
Can clients book their own sessions in ClassQuill?
Not yet. ClassQuill is staff-scheduled — your team owns the calendar and books sessions. TutorCruncher offers client self-booking; for ClassQuill it's on the roadmap rather than live, so we won't claim it.
What does ClassQuill have that TutorCruncher doesn't?

I already have a TutorCruncher account — can I still access my old data after switching?
Yes. Your TutorCruncher login stays active for as long as you keep the account, so your historical data is there whenever you need to check it. Moving to ClassQuill doesn't touch TutorCruncher itself — we help you export your students, schedule and billing history and bring them across, and you can run both in parallel until you're ready to switch off the old one.
